BR 2-8: The Gingerbread Man

This story is comic and poor. This is Gingerbread man's story. He was made from the dough by old man and old woman who have no children.
He ran away out side after hi was made immediately. On the way, he was chased by old man, old woman and various animals. He didn't stop running away. At a result, he was eaten by a fox.

I don't know what the story want to tell us.

BR 2-7: The Fox and the Stork

It is very easy for me to read because the sentences are very simple. However, story is good.
I have ever listened to this story. The characters of this story are a fox and a stork. They were poor, but clever.

A fox invited stork to dinner. The fox poured the soup into wide bowls. However, stork have sharp and long bill, so stork didn't eat the soup.
And then, the stork invited the fox to dinner. The stork poured the soup into tall jars. So the fox didn't eat the soup.

When I listened to the story first as a child, I thought the stork was very clever.

BR 2-6: Sleeping Beauty

Once upon a time, a king and queen lived in a magical castle. They didn't have a baby. They want a baby.
One day, a bright green frog jumped on queen's lap. And then, the frog told her that she were going to have a baby this year. And what he said was true. She got a lovely baby girl. The baby was named "Rose".

The king hold a feast. Many prince and princess in the land were invited and he asked seven fairies to become Rose's fairy godmothers. The seven fairies said "We have some wishes for Princess Rose". So, first fairy wished that Rose will be the most beautiful girl in the kingdom. The second wished that Rose will be clever enough to beat the king at chess. The third fairy wished that Rose will have grace in all she does. The fourth fairy wished that Rose will have grace in all she does. The fourth fairy wished that she will dance to perfection. The fifth fairy wished that she will play every instrument like an angel, and sixth fairy wished that she'll sing like a nightingale. However, icy air swept through the Great Hall before the seventh fairy wished. Nightshade who is the mean fairy appeared. Nightshade angry with king and Queen because they didn't invite her to the feast. So, Nightshade wished that Rose will pluck her finger on a spinning wheel and die on her sixteenth birthday. And then, Nightshade disappeared. The king and the queen were grieve. However they had a little hope because the seventh fairy didn't wish for Rose yet. So, she wished that Rose would prick her finger, but you wouldn't die and she and everyone in this castle would fell into a deep sleep and only a kiss from her true love will break the spell. And then, the years passed and Rose grew like a girl that the fairies had withed. A dance party was held for her because her 16th birthday drew near. And she found a woman spinning a silky thread. A old woman took her hand and Rose fell to the floor.
Everyone in the castle fell a sleep according to the seventh fairy's wish. So, Rose was known as Sleeping Beauty. One day a prince came to the castle and found her. He thought what beautiful girl she was. He kissed her lips, and Rose open her eyes. She fell in love with him.

BR 2-5: Romeo & Juliet

I have long wished to read "Romeo & Juliet". This story is very famous. This story was written by William Shakespeare. "Romeo & Juliet" was tragic love story.

Juliet was a daughter of Capulet. Romeo was a son of Montague. The Capulet and the Montague were richest families in Verona. They were sworn enemies. How every Romeo and Juliet fell in love and got married next day in secret. This love could not be allow for their families.

One day, Romeo had to leave Verona and go to Mantua because he killed tybalt, he was Juliet's cousin. Romeo set off for Mantua and Juliet was grief. And Juliet's parents made her married Count Paris. She was averse to marring. So, she went to monk who made medicines and she got a medicines. The monk said "If you drink this, you'll sleep deep like you dead". Their plan was that every body was thought that Juliet was dead and then, Romeo came to meet her and ran away together. Then, She drink it and everybody thought she was dead. While Romeo had heard a rumor that Juliet was dead before he got the plan.

When he met her, he was mistake that she was dead. And he died in taken a poison. Soon after, Juliet woke u- from deep sleep. She saw him and she was very grief. And then, she stabbed herself with a knife.

If her plan was told him, they might to be able to be happy. The discovery of this story was very speedy. I was surprised the speed that Romeo and Juliet's love. They got married after only one day when they had met. And soon, Romeo left Verona and Juliet drank the medicine. Then, Romeo died and Juliet died, too. They were very young. I thought this story expressed foolishness of youth. I thought they were too young.

BR 2-4: Stories of Princes and Princesses

There are four stories in this book. These stories are a little strange stories of princes and princess. "The princess" who would not get married is the best of four stories.

Prue was princess who didn't want to marry a prince. Many princes visited her to marry, but she did not chose anyone.
One day, she liked one of princes who visited her but she didn't say so. Finally, her dad was angry and he had her merrily the first man who came to the castle. So, a man appeared playing a violin and they got married. He was very poor and she worked at house. It was first time for her to do housework.
And she went to work a castle to earn money. A prince who lived in the castle was the man who got married her surprisingly. In addition, the prince is the prince who she liked.

BR 2-3: Stories of Ghosts

There are three stories in this book, "stories of Ghosts". Theses stories are "the story of shiver ham hall", "school for spooks", "the tale of the haunted TV". Especially, I like "the story of shiver ham Hall". This story is most interesting of three stories.

There was hotel only ghosts come. Ghost visited comfortably at the hotel. One day, a man appeared at the ghost hotel and he planted that the hotel would be his new hotel. Ghosts were in trouble. At the night, he stayed the hotel, so ghosts tried to surprise and go out him. Ghosts did hard, but they couldn't scare him. In addition, he utilized ghosts to be haunted hotel.
A ghost woman appeared when ghost was very in trouble. The ghost woman was his grandmother. He was very surprised and scared because he had been terrified of her when she was alive. He ran away from the hotel and tore up his plans. So, ghost thanks her.

This stories is good. When I read this story I laughed in spite of myself. This story is short stories. So, I thought I wanted to read books longer than this because the book is very simple and easy to read. So, I want to read long and a substantial story but it is good to be able to read easily.

BR 2-2: The Emperor's New clothes

I chose this book "the emperor's new clothes" because I have known about a little this story. I wanted to know the story in detail.

This story's character is Emperor who likes clothes. He wasn't interested anything without clothes. He had many clothes. However he wasn't satisfied with clothes because he worn them all before. So, he ordered follower who took care of all his clothes to find the finest clothes-makers in town. And then, he found two strangers in town. They said "We're the finest clothes-makers in the world". So, follower took them to the emperor. They said Emperor "We could make magical clothes and the clothes can only be seen by clever people". So, Emperor was very excited. Emperor gave them a lot of money to make the clothes. They cheated Emperor and They ordered in the finest silks and the most expensive gold thread besides but they didn't use any of it. The Emperor was very fool. They told him not to see a thing during they worked. However, Emperor's didn't wait to see the clothed. So, he went to see his clothes but he didn't see anything.
On the morning of the royal procession, he wore the new clothes. They take him wore the clothes but he can't see the new clothes. And citizen was surprised and laugh the Emperor because he didn't wear anything in fact. He noticed that he didn't wear anything at last.

This story was very interesting. I thought the two cloth-maker who made Emperor's clothes were good at cheating. they had the gift of gab.

BR 2-1: Pinocchio

I like this series of book 'USBORNE YOUNG READING' because I can read listening these books with CD. I didn't know the story of 'Pinocchio' expect pinocchio's nose grow long if he tell a lie.

Pinocchio was made by Gepetto as his puppet. After pinocchio was given the legs and arms, he ran out of Gepetto's house, and Gepetto chased him waving his chisel. Then, Gepetto was caught by policeman.

Pinocchil reterned Gepetto's house and had a worm by the fire. When Gepetto came back home, the fire had burned off his feet. So, Gepetto helped him and gave him a new pair of feet. Pinocchio promised him to be a good son. Pinocchio wanted to be read boy.

When Pinocchio went to saw a puppet's show, he got five gold coins from manager. So, he was pleased because I thought that Gepetto could buy anything with these coins. And he met a cat and a fox. They fold him "You can triple these money if you come with us". So, Pinocchio followed them but he was cheated and he ran away from them.

Next, he met fairy. When she asked him where coins are, he told a lie to her. So, his nose grew a little longer!!

And then, he could go back home finally, he could be human.

It is a little difficult for me to understand content of this story. I reflected what the story wanted to convey everyone who read the book. However I didn't know. I might leave out some word in reading. Regrettably, I couldn't grasp. I want to read this again.

BR 1-13: Folk tales from Around the world

A squab born in the flock of ducks is tormented for a reason not to resemble other ducklings. The parent of the duck judged the squab might be the young bird of the turkey. Because the squab was tormented, the squab ran away from the duck of the circumference. The squab which was tired from living reaches living Suichi of the swan to kill her. The squab became adult all too soon there. Therefore she notices it having been a beautiful swan not a duck for the first time.

This story is one of three stories of pirates.
Charlie Crossbone wanted to be pirate and went to pirate school. He was ready to set sail for treasure because he could know how to read a treasure map and unlock a chest and he havd pirate ship. However, he have no parrot, so he bought cheep parrot because He could not expensive one.

He set off on his hunt for treasure. He found a rich ship and he climbed into the cabin where tha captain kept his treasure. Then, his parrot cry "Stop thief!!". So, he could not steal these treasure. Again, he had chance to steal some treasure, but his parrot cry again!! He could not steal because of parrot crying. So, he had a good idea. He thought that this parrot put at the restrant. If this parrot was in the restaurant, thiefs could not steal money. So, parrot got new job.

This story is one of three story of robots.

Luke was a laziest boy. His room was very mess. Her mother is angry with him every day. He did not listen to her word because he was crazy about playing game with his computer. One day, his mother said "You have to clean your room, or your computer goes". However, he did not want to clean his room, so he wanted someone who clean his room. Then, he bought a robot!

He ordered the robot with remote control to clean his room. The robot obeyed every command and his room was cleaner than it had ever been. However, the remoto control was broken. Breaking remoto control made the robot go crazy. It hurtled around the room until it was messier than ever. After that, the robot's battery went flat and did not move. After all, he clean all rooms by himself.

Once upon a time, three billy goats lived on a farm. Beanie, youngest, was small and skinny. Bertie, middle brother, was crazy about sports. Biffer, the oldest, was big and strong.
Winter came, they had no food and Biffer said, "It's time we made a move". So, they set off the Juicy fields. Into the forest,a strange shape was coming down them. And then, Beanie and bertie raced off down the path.They were wandering through the forest.They lost each other.

First, Beanie could find the path. He ran straight through the forest. There was a little wooden bridge. It was the only way to go to juicy field. So, he crossed the river but when he reached the middle of the river, a green hand grabbed his leg. A warty troll appeared in front of him・・・.

This is one of the story of Gulliver's travels.

He likes to travel around the world. He had interesting and strange experience. The ship boarded Gulliver was caught in the storm. The passengers were desperate and drawned except for Gulliver.

When he woke up, he saw many tiny mans. He could not move because they tied him to the ground. He could not understand their language and tiny mans could not understand Gullover's language too. He was very surprised because it was like a toy town there.

Gulliver learned tiny man's language and he got along with them・・・.

The hunter helped her to go to grand mother's house. When she reached the house, the wolf had eaten grand mother and hid on the bed. And then, she was eaten by the wolf. However hunter cut wolf's stomach with scissors and the little red riding hood and grand mother.

Three stories about dragon are in this book. I introduce one of three.

It was said that Dragon were the terror of the town. Dragons lived in caves, under the sea and in the sly. People feared dragons.

A man lived in the forest with his wife. His name is Stan. They did not have children, so they wanted children. One day, a wizard said him"I grant you one with because you are very good man". So, stan said "I want children". Then, they had one hundred children. Stan thought he could not feed them all. So, he set off in search of the dragon because dragon had treasure. He found a dragon, and they fought!

Stan is a clear-headed man, so he was not killed. He got treasure!

One day, a witch lost her broomstick. She was invited to a party, but she forgot where she put her broomstick. She needed something instead. So, she looked for someone to ride because she could turn someone into a horse. And then, she found. A man and his wife was walking. The wife carried all their heavy bags. However, the man did not carry anything. The withes threw her rope over the woman. The woman turned into a horse. The man did not notice what had happened. He could see only his bags his wife had carried.

The witches could go to the party and she set out for home. She was hearly home and she met the man. He was carrying the heavy bags. So, She got the horse to him and he gave a bag of gold to the witches. He went buck home with the horse and he took off the rope. Surprisingly, the horse turned into his wife! There was one difference that she never carry the bags after.

A main character is green crocodile in this story. She was very clumsy crocodile. She could get a job.

First, she worked at China Department. However, she boobed. She dropped many cups and saucers for a customer on the floor. So, she was sent to the Toy Department. She boobed again with her tail. So, she was sent to the Fool tall. However, she boobed again and her owner said her, "I do not want a clumsy crocodile in my store". She was very sad. She want one more chance. So, she had a chance to work again. Owner did not expect her at all. She attempted hard not to fail.

She was entrusted with guarding Emerald. Two jewel theieves was hiding to steal it in the place she worked. She became hero because she caught them she saved Emerald. So, owner pleased and She could became chief!!

BR 1-04: The little mermaid

There was King's castle at the very bottom of the sea. The king's six mermaid daughters brought up there. The sisters spent all day in the castle waters, tending their gardens and playing games. Their grand mama often told them a story of the world above the waves. They were permitted to rise above the waves and see everything for themselves when they reached fifteen. Eldest sister's became fifteen years old. So, she could swim to the surface of the sea. The little mermaid envied her. She was interested in the world above the sea.

Finally, she reached fifteen years old. She set off for the surface cheerfully. She broke through the waves and she fouled a ship. There was a handsome young man on the ship. He was Prince. She fell in love with him. Suddenly, the weather turned, the ship was caught in a Storm. People on the ship were tossed. The little mermaid found the prince. She searched him very hard. So, she could find and helped him. However, she couldn't appear in front of human. So, after she helped him, she hid behind a clump of seaweed. And then, a pretty girl came and helped him. The pretty girl and prince walked away.

BR 1-03: Aladdin

Once upon a time, a lazy boy who named Aladdin lived with his mother. His father was a poor tailor and he died when Aladdin was young.

One day, he met a stranger. A stranger came up to Aladdin and he said "I will make you the richest man in the world". The stranger's is Abanazar and his uncle. So, he followed Abanazar. They walked out of the city and showed Aladdin a trap door made of stone in the grass. His uncle could do magic, so he was surprised. His uncle wanted a lamp under the stone trap door. He made Aladdin come to bring the lamp. Abanazar gave him a ring. He went and found the lamp but he was shut there. He was in trouble. Suddenly, a huge man appeared from ring in front of him. The huge man helped him to get out of there.

He went back home in a hurry and he told his mother what had happened on him. His mother started to polish the lamp to sell for food money. Then, a giant man floated out. The giant man is the genie of the lamp. He said "Your wish is my command". So, they got a silver plates and foods. Their life was easy.

One day, he fell in love with Princess. The princess's name is Badr-al-Budur. So, he presented jewels her father, sultan because Aladdin wanted to marry with her. Sultan saw these big jewels and he admitted to marry him. He was very pleased but Sultan broke the promise and they heard rumor about Princess to marry Vizier's son. So, he ordered the genie to disturb their marriage. Thanks to genie, Vizier's son ended the marriage. Aladdin made genie built a home with marble floors, jewels in the walls for her. Palace was built. She was pleasured very much.

One day, Abanazar heard a rumor of Aladdin. He went the city they lived to steal the lamp. He found the lamp and ordered genie to get him the palace and the Princess. So, Sultan and Aladdin was surprised. Aladdin promised Sultan to find her. Then, he went to find the Palace and he could help her and got back his lamp. They could go back home.

Afterward, Abanazar had an evil brother and he wanted to kill Aladdin. However, he killed him and Aladdin and Badr were safe.

When I read this book, I was surprised very much because the story is not different story of Aladdin I have known. A genie of ring did not appear in the story I had known.

BR 1-02: The Story of Castle

This story show that why people need castles and why castle go out fashion.

Only 1000 years ago, real lords and ladies lived in castle. The reason why the first castle was built was the first castle was built is to protects knights of the lord who fight against the enemy who came from the north country. The first castle have hall where everyone could eat, a chapel to pray for victory and stables for the horses the knights get on. The castle surrounded by a high fence. A bridge led up the hill to a wooden tower where the knights could live. Every lord wanted one. But the lords realized wooden castles had drawbacks. The plain fact was wood was no good. Wood rots so quickly and burns too easily. Then, lords thought that we should build a castle made of stone. Building a castle could take many years. There were always lords who wanted to try something different. Whatever they built, lords built big. Their castles looked magnificent. But,visitors soon found out, living one was not so great. In fact, it was dark, noisy, could and often smelly. Most windows were tiny, to keep out attackers. Lords built stronger gatehouses to protect a castle's main entrance. Heavy iron gates rattled down to block off either end of the gatehouse. Holes were left in the gatehouse roof, for soldiers to throw stones and arrows through. One the top of their castles, lords had battlements. Lords built a long wooden cabin along one side. This had gaps in the floor for soldiers to throw down boiling hot rocks. So, everyone wanted one and most castles had a wooden extension of some kind. Then, they built them again in stone. The next castles to be built had walls within walls. Life was twice as hard for any attackers trying to break in. These latest castles were better inside as well. The extra walls had lots of towers, all with rooms, so visitors could stay. Then there were the lord's right-hand men, his stewards. They took charge of cook, clerks, carpenters, cleaners, ushers, gardeners and grooms. And there were blacksmiths to make weapons, carpenters to build and fix furniture, and huntsmen to catch food. Ever so often, one lord would take a liking to another lord's castle and its land and try to take them by force. So, secret passages were often built into castle and could also use the passage to send lord's knights on a surprise attack. the cannon was invented. It was soon strong enough to blast holes in the biggest castle. Then lords stopped fighting each other and banded together to fight other countries. Finally, lords and ladies decided they did not want to live in cold, dark, noisy castles. They wanted grand homes instead. So, they stopped building castles altogether. Castles had their stones stolen for new buildings, or were simply left to collapse. Hundreds of years went by until today, very few castle are lived in at all. Some have completely disappeared.
